At first glance, this piece feels calm.

But the longer you look…
The more it shifts.

Above her, a dragon rests.
Small in scale compared to some of the other pieces.
But still present.
Still watching.
It doesn’t feel aggressive.
It doesn’t feel threatening.
But it doesn’t feel harmless either.
It sits there like a quiet signal.
A reminder that something else exists beyond what we see first.
☯️ The Split World Behind Her
The background tells its own story.
Light on one side.
Dark on the other.
Clouds that feel soft and weightless contrasted with something heavier.
Denser.
This isn’t just aesthetic.
It feels intentional.
Like she exists between two states.
Two identities.
Two versions of herself.
💀 What Sits Beneath
Then your eye drops.
And everything changes.
Three skulls at the base.
Grounding the piece.
They add weight.

🎨 Building the Piece Digitally
Like a lot of my work, this started with a rough sketch on the iPad.
Nothing too polished.
Just enough to map out the composition and balance.
From there, it moved straight into Procreate.
Working in layers, I built the piece step by step:
- Blocking out the main shapes first
- Defining the character and pose
- Building the background as a separate visual layer
- Adding contrast between light and dark elements
- Bringing in details like the dragon and skulls last
This kind of composition relies on control.
Knowing when to add detail.
And when to hold back.
🧠 The Idea Behind It
This piece leans into contrast.
But not in an obvious way.
It’s not chaos vs calm.
Or good vs bad.
It’s more subtle than that.
It’s about existing in the middle.
Looking composed on the outside while holding complexity underneath.
Strength without noise.
🖤 A Quiet Kind of Power
Compared to some of the louder, more aggressive pieces in the collection, this one is quieter.
But that doesn’t make it weaker.
If anything, it makes it more controlled.
More deliberate.
It doesn’t demand attention.
It holds it.
