This piece feels like a pause.

The kind where everything is happening around you…
but you’re still deciding what to do next.
🪑 The Calm at the Centre
At the centre, she sits.
Relaxed.
Almost too relaxed.
One hand near her face.
Lost in thought.
Unbothered, at least on the surface.
But she isn’t alone.
🐍 The Voices Around Her
Two dragons circle behind her.
Different colours.
Different energies.
One feels sharper.
More direct.
The other feels heavier.
Slower.
More calculated.
They don’t just exist in the same space.
They interact.
They cross over.
They compete.
And yet…
they never quite touch her.
🧠 The Meaning Beneath It
This piece leans into internal conflict.
The voices we all have.
The push and pull between different choices.
Different instincts.
One pulling one way.
One pulling another.
And you…
somewhere in the middle.
Trying to decide which one to listen to.
🎨 Building the Composition
This started, like most of my work, as a rough sketch on the iPad.
The goal wasn’t detail.
It was placement.
Making sure the balance worked.
Making sure the character stayed the focal point, even with everything happening around her.
From there, it moved into Procreate and was built in layers:
- The seated figure came first to anchor the piece
- The dragons were added next, flowing around her to create movement
- Colour blocking helped separate each element clearly
- The circular base effect was added to ground the composition
- Details and highlights were layered in gradually to bring everything together
The challenge here was restraint.
Not letting the dragons overpower the scene.
Keeping the focus exactly where it needed to be.
⚖️ Movement vs Stillness
Everything in this piece moves…
except her.
The dragons twist.
The colours flow.
The energy builds around her.
But she stays still.
And that stillness is what gives the piece its strength.
🖤 Quiet Control
There’s no panic here.
No urgency.
Just awareness.
She knows what’s around her.
She knows the options.
She just hasn’t chosen yet.
And that’s where the power sits.
⚔️ Final Thought
Not every battle looks like action.
Sometimes it looks like sitting still…
while everything else tries to pull you in different directions.
